Christmas Aurora Nights added!!

Due to popular demand we have added a new events:

The "Christmas aurora night" this event will take place on the 22nd & 29th December at 19:00 hrs till you drop! with a festive feel in the facility, Christmas carols (sang by Malcolm) mince pies, mulled wine etc. Sit in front of the log burning fire as we explain how we see these phenomena and the physics behind them.

We will use this night to teach you how to go off and spot these light shows for yourself, we may even see them here!!Many times we have seen the Northern lights at the observatory under these incredible dark skies, what a way to start the Christmas holidays! Also; JUNIOR AURORA NIGHT;
Due to popular demand we have added the junior aurora nights!! A scaled down version of the main aurora nights. These events will run from 17.00 to 18.30 hrs on the 22nd and 29th December 2011, aimed at families with children who dont want to be up too late. The event will consist of a short interactive talk and then off to spot auroras, in between all that we will looking through the poweful telescopes, at planets and stars and distant galaxies. All in the comfort of the award winning Kielder observatory, decorated in Chrristmas fayre. To book go to the calendar section and follow the instructions.
